Wire Harness for ECM

Wire soldering is the most common method to connect an Electret Condenser Microphone (ECM) to the main PCB. But it’s also common for wires or microphones to be damaged during the soldering process. To reduce this risk, selecting the right wire harness becomes critical.

📘 Guidelines for wire selection:

  • 📏 Wire diameter: The conductor diameter should match the width of the solder pad. This ensures the solder fully covers the conductor. Too large or too small may cause cold solder or short‑circuit issues.
  • 🔥 Wire jacket: Wire mush have a high temperature rating. This helps prevent jacket shrinkage during soldering and avoids short-circuit issue.
  • 🔌 Connector: Beyond soldering, connector compatibility is also critical. Verify that the wires can properly mate with both connector terminals and housing.

JL World also provides pre‑assembled wire harnesses to help customers integrate microphones more easily. Contact us for an optimized wire harness solution.
